Journeying to over 30 countries Spa Tapestry’s founder, Whittle followed a natural curiosity for cultural traditions and indigenous healing practices which has encouraged her creative spirit and diverse perspective on transformational wellness.
Her career began in Africa, at a boutique hotel in Zanzibar set within the ancient ruins of a Sultan’s Palace. Her time there evolved into numerous opportunities, including the creation of an integrated wellness space within the walls of the old palace chambers.
After a sabbatical in South Africa to recover from a life-changing illness, she joined Amanresorts. Her long tenure with this iconic hospitality brand began at Amanpuri, in Phuket, her intuitive style helping her master the fully immersive experience of this multi-award-winning Aman Spa.
For Aman in Sri Lanka, Whittle refined her expertise at crafting and managing each component of the luxury hotel experience. She was in Galle for the traumatic 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami and brought her skills to the community’s recovery. Later, at Amanjena in Marrakech she combined her eclectic toolbox with the exoticisms of North Africa.
In a professional leap to Shanghai for Marriott International she headed up training and development of the Quan brand throughout the Asia Pacific region. After this, a stint in Hong Kong followed with another of Asia’s iconic brands, Mandarin Oriental.
In 2010, she turned her full attention to Spa Tapestry, and eventually landed in Mysore in southern India, to expand her wellness repertoire with the study of Yogic Sciences for three years. During this period, Whittle transformed her home into a boutique guesthouse and wellness events space for Mysore’s dedicated yoga practitioners and visitors.
This global career path and broad diversity of skills within wellness and hospitality sets her apart from industry colleagues. Whittle’s cross-pollination of experiences brings with it a true passion for guest relations and service which ensures brand identity and overall success for every Spa Tapestry client.
